Certified Sommelier, Trainer
Erik is a Certified Sommelier who has been working in the wine industry for the last fifteen years. He began his hospitality career with a course in hotel catering and management in Budapest where he popped in the world of hospitality, dining and wine. In 2005, the opportunity appeared to work for Crystal Cruises – the World’s most Awarded American six-star luxury Cruise Line as Sommelier. During these eight years with the company he has acquired great experience in the rare wine sector as well as quality service. In order to deepen his passion, knowledge, skills in wines and customer service, he has pursued Certified Specialist of Wine by The Court of Masters Sommelier’s Certification in The USA. This certification is widely recognized by international wine and spirits industry.
Erik’s new adventure began by opening his own business, the Wine & Company s.r.o. (2013) in Slovakia, specializing in affordable, everyday wines up to extremely rare and hard to find vintages from around the World. The company is importing and distributing wine to trade and also private customers. Erik felt privileged to share his knowledge, skills and enthusiasm with his clients and enjoys inspiring a passion in others to better appreciate the world of wine.
As the love of wine goes hand in hand with the love of food gives him great insight to match food and wine for different dining occasion, he is preparing and creating wine lists for restaurants, hotels, clubs and bars which require his creativity and diligence – finding the best suppliers of both, inexpensive and the higher -priced wines. Currently, with a wine career that covers wine educations, customer service, HACCP, marketing, export logistics and event management, Erik was a natural fit for the role of Trainer at IQEP (International Quality Experiences and Products.)
